Please note this is a surgeon review; not a hospital review. I had my Lap Band done at Hurley in Flint which I have all good things to say about my experience. However, my DS was done at Doctor’s Hospital in Pontiac which totally SUCKED! I would never advise anyone to go there. Check out “My DS surgery in a Nutshell” posting.

1st Impression
He seemed very particular and seemed to really know his stuff. He didn’t remind me of a surgeon who just wants to rape your insurance company but someone who really wants to determine what is best for you and if you really are a good WLS candidate.

Nope. Still feeling the fuzzy feelings.
Office Staff
The office staff consists mainly of Elisabeth who seems to hold the fort down well. She’s always on top of things but they are super duper busy so sometimes you have to call a few times to get her on the line and by pass the voicemail.
Least Like
That he wasn’t open to the idea of doing my DS lap. He only does open. Also, that he rides on the low fat bandwagon. If DS patients eat low fat they end up miserable and constipated. That low fat crap he pushes is recycled RYN advice in my opinion. DS patients have different needs.
Future Patients Should Know
He’s fantastic. He really cares about you and how you’ll do. He’s honest and will do excellent follow up care. In the hospital, he doted on my daily. Very nice to feel someone is looking out for you to that degree.

Rate Overall
A++ He’s a great surgeon who was honest and straight forward. He was very caring. He didn’t act as though he’d done another million just like you.
Beside Manner & Surgical Competence
Both are great! I just don’t have anything bad to say. My surgeon experience has been very positive thus far.

He was really caring; almost fatherly. In fact, he said I reminded him of his daughter.

No, it pretty much stayed the same over the last year.
Office Staff
The office staff is very friendly and seem to really care about their patients. I just wish they’d close the glass when talking about specifics. 
Least Like
That he was overweight. I wondered how he could do this surgery for others but not on himself. Just puzzled me.
Future Patients Should Know
He’s fantastic. He really cares about you and how you’ll do. He’s honest and will do excellent follow up care. He even cornered my husband in the waiting room to give him the run down like he gave me just so someone else would know and hold me accountable…LOL.
Aftercare
Mentioned above. Follows through. Not necessarily structured but you do what you want when you feel like it. If you are ready for a fill you’ll know or you could call and ask and they’d advice. There’s no set schedule for things though (after the initial 6 weeks anyway).
